Lumen — Personal Dashboard with Real-Time Data Sync
Overview:
Lumen is a minimalist personal dashboard that pulls data from multiple sources — calendar, weather, health, and task managers — into a single, sleek interface. This was a passion project aimed at combining beautiful UI with practical daily utility.
My Role:
Product Designer
Interaction Developer (Framer & API integration)
UX Researcher
Challenges:
Needed to integrate multiple APIs (Google Calendar, Weather API, Notion) without overwhelming the interface
User flows had to feel smooth and intuitive for everyday use
Real-time data updates required optimized rendering for performance
Process:
Conducted interviews with 8 productivity tool users to understand pain points
Mapped out key dashboard modules and prioritized "glanceable" design
Prototyped in Framer with simulated real-time data via mock APIs
Created animations for subtle micro-interactions (hover, refresh, status changes)
Tested layout on mobile and desktop for responsive design fidelity
Outcome:
Received positive feedback from beta users for simplicity and speed
Was used by over 300 users within the first month of soft launch
Featured in a curated “Maker’s Weekly” newsletter as a Framer project highlight
Tools Used:
Framer, Figma, REST APIs (Google Calendar, OpenWeather, Notion API), Zapier, Vercel
